The most common Fallbrook dishwasher complaint on well-served properties. The leading cause is mineral scale build-up in the spray arm holes. Well water minerals accumulate inside the small holes and progressively block the water jets. Over 2 to 3 years without descaling on a well-served property, spray arm output drops significantly.
Diagnosis is visual: remove the spray arms and hold them up to a light. Scale-blocked holes are visible immediately. Cleaning takes 30 minutes with a citric acid soak and costs $95 with the diagnostic waived. Replacing the spray arm assembly ($180 to $350) does not address the underlying water quality issue.
Secondary causes: failing wash pump motor (rare), clogged filter at the bottom of the tub (homeowner check), or a control board issue.
