A large portion of Fallbrook and Bonsall homes are on private wells. Well water carries mineral content that clogs inlet valves, screens, dishwasher spray arms, refrigerator water lines, and ice maker valves. The diagnostic on every well-served call starts with water quality, not with parts. This is the single largest difference between servicing a rural Fallbrook property and a suburban Escondido one.

Who runs this service
One technician.
Start to finish.

Appliance Repair Fallbrook is operated by Dave Coleman, a Fallbrook-based appliance service professional who has been working on rural and semi-rural appliances in North County San Diego for 25 years. Dave grew up in Bonsall, apprenticed under a Fallbrook appliance service technician who is now retired, and started this current business in 2025 to fill the gap that opened when the previous owner closed shop.
Dave's background
From Bonsall groves
to Fallbrook.
- 1998Two-year apprenticeship under Jim Reeves, a Fallbrook appliance technician
- 2013Joined a larger Oceanside appliance service, taking most Fallbrook and Bonsall calls
- 2023That service was acquired by a national franchise; Dave stayed on two more years
- 2025Started Appliance Repair Fallbrook
Dave's appliance career started in 1998 with a two-year apprenticeship under Jim Reeves, who ran a small Fallbrook appliance service from 1976 until his retirement in 2013. From Jim he learned two things that still shape this service. First, well water and municipal water require different diagnostic approaches, and a technician who does not check water quality first will replace working parts on well-served properties every time. Second, rural service calls are different from suburban ones because parts availability matters more when the customer is 25 miles from the nearest parts distributor.
After Jim retired, Dave worked for a larger appliance service based in Oceanside for eight years, taking most of the Fallbrook and Bonsall calls because he knew the territory. When that service was acquired by a national franchise in 2023, Dave stayed on for two more years before starting his own business dedicated to the Fallbrook and Bonsall community.
Certifications currently held:
- EPA Section 608 Universal certification for refrigerant handling
- Whirlpool Factory Authorised Service Network technician
- GE Appliances certified technician
- Propane appliance certification (relevant for propane dryers common in Fallbrook rural properties)
Why Fallbrook and Bonsall specifically
Local knowledge
changes the fix.
Dave grew up on a small avocado grove outside Bonsall. His family still owns the property. The service covers Fallbrook, Bonsall, De Luz, Rainbow, and Pala because those are the communities Dave has known for four decades, and where he can honestly reach a customer within an hour. He does not claim to serve Temecula, Murrieta, or Lake Elsinore because those are across the mountain and no genuine Fallbrook-based service can promise same-day service there.
Local knowledge specific to Fallbrook that affects Dave's diagnostic approach:

Many Fallbrook homes built before 1980 have galvanised iron plumbing that leaches iron into the appliance supply. Rust-tinged water at a refrigerator dispenser is a plumbing problem, not an appliance defect. Recognising this saves customers from unnecessary appliance repairs.
Natural gas is not available in much of rural Fallbrook, so propane dryers and propane ranges are common. Propane appliances have different ignition systems, pressure regulators, and safety cutoffs from natural gas equivalents. A generalist who has only worked on natural gas will misdiagnose these.
Some Bonsall, De Luz, and Rainbow properties are down dirt roads that most service vehicles avoid. This service uses a four-wheel-drive service vehicle so access is not an issue. A small rough-road surcharge applies to properties beyond paved roads.
Fallbrook is avocado country and there are dozens of small packing operations, family orchards, and Fallbrook Village restaurants that use commercial refrigeration and commercial kitchens. These get service the same day when possible because downtime is expensive.
Our commitments
Six promises.
Every job.
This service commits to:
- Same technician for every call. Dave answers the phone, does the diagnostic, does the repair, and returns for any follow-up. This is a one-technician service by design. Customers never get a different person on the second visit.
- Water quality check on every well-served call. This is what separates a Fallbrook-experienced service from an out-of-town one.
- Flat-rate pricing after diagnostic. Firm quote before any work begins.
- 90-day parts and labour warranty. If the same fault recurs within 90 days, the return visit is at no charge.
- Honest repair-or-replace advice. Rural properties in Fallbrook often have older appliances that are worth keeping. Dave will tell you when a repair makes sense and when it does not.
- Upfront pricing on rural surcharges. A $30 rough-road surcharge for properties beyond paved roads is stated at scheduling, not sprung on you at the door.
Outside of work
Fallbrook is
home.
Dave still helps out with his family's avocado grove on weekends. He is a Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce member, a supporter of the Fallbrook Land Conservancy, and a regular attendee at the annual Fallbrook Avocado Festival.
